October 8, 2016,

One day we headed to Petland in search of a cat to adopt.. When you walk into the store the first thing you see are the bunnies, and just how adorable they are!! We walked over to take a look and what do we see? Two sisters cuddling, they were so gorgeous. We couldn't resist picking one up to see how their temperament was, they were fairly easy to pick up at the store, although once we got home they started to feel more comfortable and less easy to pick up, so we knew we had a little work ahead of us. We made a list with a Petland expert and started picking items off the shelves together. It was happening, really happening!! We took home 2 stunning sisters plus a car full of supplies.

Let the bonding & learning begin!

So the chewing starts!

There is a lot to learn about rabbits, everything from litter training them, learning what they can and can't eat, to protecting your home. These are things we needed to learn. We started off right away litter training them, this has made our lives a lot easier! Of course there is still the occasional poop, but hay that isn't so bad! We printed off a list of all the safe food for them and put it on the fridge. Although we learned the hard way when it came to protecting our home, they loved our wires. We had to learn to put them up and away so the buns had no access to them. I think we have gone through at least 5 pairs of headphones & charging cables! Even though there was a lot to learn we didn't regret it one bit. They are truly amazing and intelligent little fur babies.

Lot of chew Toys!

Mini Rex's are strong!

Nobody told us that different breads of bunnies have different traits & quarks. We had moved them into a larger space, and replaced the door with a baby gate that way we could see them. Little did we know, Mini Rex's are known for being very muscular giving them the agility to jump really high for their size! We didn't sleep very well that night, very 30 minutes we would be out of bed putting them back because they would be getting into something they shouldn't be.

The next day we changed things up, we sawed our door in half and put it back on the hinges like a dutch door without the top. It was a lot taller then the baby gate and in the end it looked better. We took some time that day to also build come bunny jumping courses, so they could get some energy out during the day. Did you know that there is such a thing as Bunny Olympics!?! Cool Hay!

Playtime, Cuddles and Kisses!

Bunnies are very playful, love to run around, play with chew toys, push a ball around and dig. We give our buns towels to dig in, they just love it and it helps them relieve some stress. After they have released all their energy they become super calm and relaxed. They love to be held and cuddled, it makes them feel loved and protected. They love forehead kissed and pets. This is the best form of meditati

Kisses and Love!

A home is not a home without a bunny!

That is something we have learned, life just wouldn't be the same without these two beautiful little souls. They have brought so much happiness and joy into our lives. They are always there to cheer us up when we need it the most. All it takes is a cuddle and a kiss!!

Thank you for reading. There is still a lot more we want to tell you about, so please stay tuned for our next blog! We hope you enjoyed learning about Walnut and Hazel! Here is a few more photos.
